San Luis Obispo police search for man suspected of robbing cigar shop at gunpoint

The San Luis Obispo Police Department is searching for a man who robbed a cigar shop at gunpoint Friday evening.

The suspect, about 40 to 50 years old and wearing a mask, walked into Tony’s Cigars and Accessories at 158 Higuera St. about 8:30 p.m., according to a news release.

Upon the man’s request, the employee gathered items for him and brought the bag to the counter, police said.

The suspect showed the employee a Glock-style handgun and demanded money, according to the release.

He fled on foot with the money in a bag, police said, and threatened to harm the employee if he called authorities.

He was last seen wearing a green Carhartt sweatshirt, dark pants and Nike (or Jordan-style) shoes, the news release stated.
