Pismo Beach police arrest Santa Maria man suspected of stabbing victim

File

The Pismo Beach Police Department arrested a Santa Maria man on Saturday after he allegedly stabbed a man.

Police officers responded to the 400 block of Price Street around 2:04 p.m. Saturday, where they found a Five Cities area man with stab wounds, according to a news release.

Police said officers administered medical aid to the 50-year-old man before he was transported to a local hospital.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office and Arroyo Grande Police Department located the suspect near South Elm Street and The Pike in Oceano, after a description of his vehicle was broadcast to local law enforcement agencies, according to the release.

Following a traffic stop, Travis Daniel Woodard, 24, of Santa Maria, was taken into custody, police said.

Woodward allegedly told the Pismo Beach Police Department that he stabbed the older man, police said.

Woodard was booked at San Luis Obispo County Jail on a charge of attempted murder, according to the news release.

He was being held at the jail Sunday in lieu of $1 million bail, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked by police to contact Detective Laughlin of the Pismo Beach Police Department’s Investigations Bureau.
