Update: 1 person shot in potential gang-related shooting in Paso Robles, police say

Update, 10 a.m.:

One person was shot in what is believed to be a gang-related incident in Paso Robles around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the Paso Robles Police Department.

Police responded to several reports of shots fired near Santa Ysabel Avenue, according to a Facebook post by the Paso Robles Police Department. However, the shooter had fled the scene before police had arrived, the agency said.

The shooting victim was treated by Paso Robles Emergency Services and taken to a local hospital, according to police. The victim is in stable condition, police said.

The Paso Robles Police Department said initial evidence led officers to believe that the shooting is gang-related. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with further information is asked to call the Paso Robles Police Department’s Detective Bureau.

The Paso Robles Police Department responded to reports of a shooting Thursday night, but little information about the investigation had been released the following morning.

According to a tweet by the police department, a shooting reportedly took place in the near Santa Ysabel Avenue and San Augustin Drive, about two blocks from the Paso Robles Golf Club course.

Paso Robles police tweeted about the incident around 9:50 p.m. Thursday. Officers asked the public to stay away from the area while they were on the scene.

The Paso Robles Police Department had not responded to calls or emailed requests for comment as of 9:30 a.m. Friday.

No further information was available as of Friday morning.
