Atascadero Fatte’s Pizza owner suspected of robbing Paso Fatte’s at gunpoint, police say

The owner of Fatte’s Pizza in Atascadero is suspected of robbing another Fatte’s Pizza restaurant on Sunday night, according to the Paso Robles Police Department.

According to police, two employees said that a masked gunman entered Fatte’s Pizza in Paso Robles at about 10:17 p.m. Sunday while they were closing the Niblick Road restaurant.

The man was armed with a silver pistol with an attached silencer wrapped in black tape, police said in a news release. He demanded that the employees empty the register, the release said.

The suspect then made the employees turn off all the lights and move to the back of the store, police said, before tossing glow sticks into the shop and telling the employees they could use that as a light.

The employees fled out of the back door and saw a white Toyota Tundra speeding away, headed westbound on Niblick Road, according to the release.

Police said officers immediately began searching for the vehicle in the area. A San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office deputy found a truck matching the description pulling into the Atascadero In-N-Out, the release said.

The truck was stopped and the suspect — identified as Darryl Allan, 38 — was found inside with a pocket full of .22 ammunition, police said.

Police allegedly found a silver .22 caliber pistol with a destroyed serial number and black taped suppressor inside the vehicle.

Along with the gun, officers found glow sticks, a large amount of cash, drugs, drug paraphernalia, metal knuckles and several keys to off-road vehicles in the truck, according to the release.

Police arrested Allan on suspicion of robbery, kidnapping, possession of a silencer and possession of a controlled substance while armed, among other charges.

Allan was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail around 2:30 a.m. Monday in lieu of $100,000 bail. His court date has not been set, according to the Sheriff’s Office booking log.

Police are looking for the owner of the off-road vehicle keys, the release said.

Earlier this year, Allan closed the Fatte’s Pizza he owned in Atascadero after alleging there was a data breach of the business bank account, a burglary at his residence and a break-in at his storage unit in August 2019.

Fatte’s Pizza has restaurants throughout California, including locations in San Luis Obispo, Grover Beach and Paso Robles. The eateries are all owned independently and operate separately.

Police are actively investigating Sunday’s robbery and anyone with information is asked to call 805-237-6464.
