What caused SLO County house fire? Cooking drugs in the kitchen, police say

Police say an Arroyo Grande house fire was sparked by a drug lab in the kitchen.

Police officers and firefighters responded to reports of a residential structure fire in the 100 block of Brisco Road around 4:30 p.m. Monday, according to an Arroyo Grande Police Department news release.

The fire was found to be caused by a drug conversion lab in the kitchen, according to the release.

One resident received minor injuries as a result of the blaze, police said.

The scene was turned over to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit, which will seek criminal charges against the resident for manufacturing a dangerous drug, according to the release.

No other structures were damaged and no other individuals were injured, police said.
