Police searching for suspect who stabbed SLO County man in home

Arroyo Grande police are asking for help in locating a suspect in a stabbing.

Officers responded to the 400 block of South Elm Street just before 11 p.m. Monday to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in progress, according to a news release sent Tuesday by the Arroyo Grande Police Department.

Officers were reportedly told that an unknown subject entered a home and stabbed a man before fleeing the scene.

When they arrived, officers contacted the victim inside of his residence and found he had multiple stab wounds to his chest, police said.

Police rendered emergency medical aid to the victim, who was then transported via ambulance to a local hospital where he is currently being treated for life-threatening wounds, police said.

The man is undergoing emergency surgery and is still in critical condition, Arroyo Grande police said.

The suspect is still on the loose, police said.

A news release Tuesday did not offer a description of the person, but a department spokesman said investigators are working on putting together a description.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Arroyo Grande Police Department at 805-473-5110.
