Josephus Stallworth was arrested Tuesday for allegedly operating an illegal cannabis delivery service.

Police in San Luis Obispo arrested a man and seized more than 10,000 cannabis products and several thousand dollars on Tuesday, accusing him of operating an illegal cannabis delivery service out of his home.

While voters legalized cannabis years ago with Proposition 64, sales require permits from the city and the state Bureau of Cannabis Control, which were allegedly not obtained in this case.

Josephus Stallworth, 40, was arrested when detectives served a search warrant at his home on Rockview Place off Broad Street, police said in press release sent Thursday.

“Detectives received information that Stallworth had been transporting and selling large quantities of marijuana from his residence during the past several weeks,” the release said.

Police say the products were fraudulently packaged to look like legal and lab-tested cannabis products — a photo shows a label for “Purple Diesel Harvest” with a packaged date of 11/20/19. Licensed cannabis retailers are required to meet specific safety standards developed by the state’s Bureau of Cannabis Control.

Stallworth was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on $25,000 bail.
