Daggers, meth found, 2 men arrested after car chase in Paso Robles

Two men were arrested and police confiscated daggers, methamphetamines and marijuana following a car chase in Paso Robles on Tuesday night.

About 10 p.m., Paso Robles police began chasing a “known felony suspect” who was driving a 1994 Toyota Four Runner north on North River Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. Paso police requested help from the CHP, who took over the pursuit at Wellsona Road, the CHP said.

Speeds during the chase reached 75 mph, the CHP said.

One of the suspect vehicle’s tires deflated after it ran over a spike strip, but it still failed to yield as it turned onto Highway 46 East and then onto Union Road, the CHP said.

The chase continued, with the suspect’s vehicle intentionally ramming a CHP vehicle before turning onto Tuley Road, reaching a dead end and stopping, the CHP said. The driver and his dog then got out of the car and tried to run away, but were apprehended by CHP officers, the CHP said.

The driver, Patrick Dale Sandeffer, 30, of Atascadero, was arrested and taken to the San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence, assault with a deadly weapon, having concealed weapons, evading a peace officer and an outstanding warrant, the CHP said. He is being held in lieu of $35,000 bail.

His passenger, Raymond Gene Anthony Glove, remained in the car and was arrested on suspicion of drug charges and outstanding warrants, the CHP said.

Officers seized methamphetamines, daggers and marijuana from the car, the CHP said.
