Shooting suspect leads deputies on chase through Fort Hunter Liggett
Monterey County sheriff’s deputies on Monday evening chased down a suspect at Fort Hunter Liggett after a shooting on Nacimiento-Fergusson Road.
California Highway Patrol officers and Monterey County Sheriff’s deputies began pursuing the suspect’s vehicle about 5:30 p.m. on Nacimiento-Fergusson Road after he shot a male victim who possibly works for the U.S. Forest Service, according to sheriff’s Cmdr. John Thornburg.
A two-man unit chased the suspect’s vehicle, described as a red pickup truck, down the road onto the Fort Hunter Liggett property, Thornburg said. Sheriff’s deputies fired shots during the pursuit, Thornburg said.
Law enforcement searched for the suspect on the base with assistance from a CHP helicopter, before locating him and taking him into custody at about 6:30 p.m., Thornburg said.
