The San Miguel Library will present a special event series, Arts Live, at 1 p.m. on the second Saturday of the month in September, October, November and December.

A family movie will be shown, and there will be arts and crafts activities for children. The fun begins Sept. 10. The library is at 254 13th St. next to the ballfield. 805-467-3224.

Change of meeting

The San Miguel Chamber of Commerce will meet tonight from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Mars Mega Storage office at 101 Wellsona Road, off Monterey Road.

Picnic a success

The San Miguel Lions want to thank everyone who made this year’s Old Timers Picnic a great success on a beautiful summer’s day.

Approximately 230 meals were served, including 74 served free to those 80 and older. Pioneer royalty was introduced and applauded. Visiting Lions from Vandenberg Village, Santa Margarita, Paso Robles, Templeton and Shandon Valley pitched in to help.

Honored as the oldest man and oldest woman present were 107-year-old Harry Wolf of Morro Bay and 86-year-old Dixie Sinclair Thacker of San Miguel.

In memory

The family of Bonnie James wants to thank everyone who supported them by calling, visiting, bringing food and attending her service. Bonnie was a bright, happy light to all who knew her and loved her.
