The San Miguel Community Services District will conduct a public hearing next week on the proposed increase in trash collection rates.

The agreement between the CSD and San Miguel Garbage permits an annual rate increase based on the Consumer Price Index; they are asking for less than 1 percent.

Standard can service will go from $28.03 to $28.33 — an increase of 30 cents — with other service rates increasing accordingly. The pickup of white goods will continue with refrigerators, stoves, etc., collected at no additional cost by scheduled request.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m. at the Fire Department, 1150 Mission St. For information about garbage service call San Miguel Garbage at 467-9283.

Business Expo coming up

Reminder: Plan to attend the Business Expo between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, at the Mission San Miguel Parish Hall behind the mission.

Concert at Mission San Antonio

Old Mission San Antonio de Padua in Lockwood will present a benefit concert on Sunday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m. following the 9 a.m. Sunday Mass.

“United We Stand — A Unity Event in Celebration of Black History Month” will feature the gospel choir from St. Benedict’s Catholic Church of Oakland. This will be their only appearance in our area.

A donation of $10 per person is requested to benefit the continued earthquake retrofit of the mission. The concert will be followed by a light reception. San Antonio Mission is located on Fort Hunter Liggett off Jolon Road northwest of San Miguel.
