HART is having a collection for Goodwill from Friday to Sunday, Nov 6-8. This is a great chance to get rid of some usable clutter and help our needy animals. You may drop off your usable items as early as Nov. 3 during regular business hours at HART, 2638 Main St., Cambria.

The Goodwill truck will be accepting donations in the HART parking lot from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the above dates. Everybody wins! You clean out your cupboards, Goodwill gets great donations and HART gets a nice stipend for each truck we fill.

Predator warning

Pet owners beware. Sightings of bobcats, mountain lions, coyotes and raccoons are on the rise. Even raccoons can attack small cats and kittens and are a rabies vector species that can carry feline distemper.

An unusually large number of domestic cats have gone missing in Cambria since Sept. 1, so anyone with indoor/outdoor cats should make sure their beloved pets are in by dark, or not let them out at all.

Sadly, Dave Ehlers’ cat Rosie, adopted from HART, has been his second cat within a month to be taken by a wild animal. Our beloved cats and our other small pets are easy prey. Keep them safe inside after the sun goes down.

Black Cat Month

During the entire month of November, for only $5, you can adopt a black or tuxedo cat.

The fee includes spay/neuter, up-to-date vaccinations, microchip, flea treatment and follow-up veterinarian exam.

Come by and spend some time with our adorable cats and kittens. You will fall in love, and the price is the cat’s meow! HART is open Tuesday through Saturday, from noon to 5 p.m.

Save the date

Saimin Lamb was just seven weeks old when he was adopted by Gary and Lynn Lamb. As their RV Road Warrior, Saimin traveled 165,000 miles with them during his 17½-year life. He loved to sit in their crystal fruit bowl and did not mind sharing table space with the occasional bottle of wine.

In addition to its cuteness factor, we have included Saimin’s photo to announce the date for our 2016 Wines, Pines & Felines event.

Please mark your datebooks for Tuesday, May 3, 2016.

Wines, Pines & Felines will be held at Robin’s Restaurant, 4095 Burton Drive, Cambria. More information to follow for this festive event.
