Cambria kids showcase musical talent at recitals
If you want a chance to hear — and support — the musicians of the future, check out the Cambria Youth Music Recital and Tea on Sunday, April 24.
More than 20 musicians ages 8-18 will perform at the event, set for 2 p.m. at Cambria Community Presbyterian Church, 2250 Yorkshire Drive.
The performers have all benefited from the Youth Music Scholarship Fund, which ensures that Cambria youths have access to individual music instruction from qualified teachers.
Tickets are $5 at the door; students will be admitted free to the event, which is sponsored by the Cambria Youth Music Fund Committee and Pinedorado Lions Club Foundation.
One student will receive the Jim Fitzgerald Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music, named for the former educator and Cambria Chorale director.
A reception with refreshments in the Fellowship Hall will follow the recital.
Students of piano teacher Emily Fitzgerald are Nic Barth, Sequoia Friedman, Andy Garcia, Lily Hoffman, Lizette Mireles, Carlos Plummer, and Hatzumy Ramirez.
Piano students studying with Valerie Tacker are Gabriela Espinoza, Gio Espinoza, Ethan Hoffman, Iyari Romo, Alam Romo, Fernando Sepulveda and Rafael Sepulveda.
