Cuesta College professor Megan Lorraine Debin will be the juror for the upcoming Spring Juried Show, which opens March 31 at the Cambria Center for the Arts, CCA announced.

The show runs through May 1.

Debin, who teaches art appreciation, art history and museum studies at Cuesta, also publishes art historical research and is a doctoral candidate in art history at UCLA. She previously received bachelor’s and master of arts degrees from the university.

The Spring Juried Show features an artists reception — including the presentation of awards — from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 1. The reception will feature live music, refreshments and a wine bar. Gallery admission is free.

Entries for the show will be accepted from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, March 29, at Cambria Center for the Arts. Entry fees are $15 per piece for Allied Arts members, and $30 per piece for nonmembers.

Both two- and three-dimensional art will be accepted, with a maximum of two pieces per artist. There is no set theme for this show. Cash awards will be made for winners (first through fourth place) and honorable mentions. Entry forms are available at the center, through the center’s website, and at the time of drop-off.

The gallery is at 1350 Main St., between the East and West Villages in the Old Cambria Grammar School and features the largest display of local art in Cambria. Hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Art talk

Kathi Rippi will present the next “Art Talk” in Allied Arts’ series, at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 20, in Conference Room 1 at Cambria Center for the Arts.

Rippi will discuss the jewelry she creates using components she collects and stores in her tiny home studio.

A graduate of Arizona State with a degree in art, Rippi taught first- through eighth-grade students for 23 years.

In addition to her jewelry and craft work, she has produced original paintings of animals and people, which have been displayed in the CCA Gallery.

Jewelry-making is a more recent endeavor. As a child, she collected items in small boxes, an activity she pursues today as she collects interesting bits and pieces to combine in her jewelry.

Rippi’s presentation is free to Allied Arts members, and admission is $3 for nonmembers. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 927-3291 or 927-1356, or go to cam
