Book signings in Cambria, Morro Bay coming up
Several authors plan book signing events in the coming weeks. Here’s a roundup of who will be appearing where:
Helen Mandlin
Cambria resident Helen Mandlin will sign copies of her book “Death, Divorce and Real Estate: An Upper West Side Story” on Saturday, March 19, at Coalesce Bookstore in Morro Bay.
The signing will be from 2 to 4 p.m.
Mandlin’s protagonist is a woman who balances romance and work with her role as a single mother. The 208-page book is available on Amazon.
Her book, described as a “celebration of the Big Apple,” draws on Mandlin’s own experience as a New Yorker born and raised on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
A performer since the age of 4, Mandlin has been doing cabaret since the 1970s and performed her show “My Life — So Far” in September at Cambria Center for the Arts Theatre as part of its inaugural Cabaresque season.
Coalesce is at 845 Main St. in Morro Bay. Details: 772-2880 or coalescebookstore@gmail.com.
Maggie Taylor
Internationally recognized artist Maggie Taylor will sign her two books from 1 to 3 p.m. April 30 at The Vault Gallery in Cambria. Taylor will sign her two books: “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” featuring her artwork accompanying the classic text by Lewis Carroll, and her latest work, “No Ordinary Days.”
Born in Cleveland in 1961, Taylor earned a philosophy degree from Yale and a master’s degree in photography from the University of Florida.
Taylor’s digital compositions have been featured in numerous museums, including the Santa Barbara Museum of Art; the Weston Gallery in Carmel; the Center for Creative Photography in Tucson, Ariz.; Museum of Fine Arts in Houston; Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans; the Cleveland Museum of Art; and the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard University.

Lynne Ludwick
Lynne Ludwick will sign copies of her book “The Box” from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at Coalesce in Morro Bay.
“The Box” is the first published book for Ludwick, a San Luis Obispo County resident and retired special education teacher. It tells the story of two boys who grew up in the 1950s, one in rural California and the other in Vietnam, who meet in battle.
One loses his life.
Decades later, the other reaches out to the family of the fallen soldier, the author’s uncle, Edward August Schultz.
“It was my chance to bring him alive again within the pages of this book,” Ludwick said, describing the story as one of remorse, hope and forgiveness.
A percentage of the profits from sales go to a scholarship fund in her uncle’s name for college-bound students who have lost a parent in war or FFA students.
