Linda Dunn’s oil paintings will be on display this month at the Cambria Library.

Dunn lived in Visalia before retiring to Cambria in 1999 and didn’t start painting until after her 27-year career in special education had ended (she served as a master teacher and mentor teacher).

Once she began focusing on art, she studied with Joy Krull and Kris Doe in emeritus classes at Cuesta College

Dunn has also taken workshops from Elizabeth Tolley, Julia Seelos, Robert Burrige and Susan Jenkins.

In addition to donating her art to several organizations for use in their fundraisers, she has exhibited her work at Allied Arts — where she has been the featured artist three times — along with the Paso Robles Art Association, the Joslyn Center and San Luis Obispo Art Center, among other art venues.

Dunn said she is inspired by the beauty of Cambria — living in the forest and having the ocean within walking distance provides a multitude of subjects to paint.

She is fascinated by color and shadows as the sun moves around on the Central Coast during the year.

Her exhibit is on display through Sept. 29 at the library, 1043 Main St.

The library is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
