When the county Planning Commission meets Thursday, Aug. 11, the sole item on the agenda, as of about a week earlier, was to be a continued hearing on new conditions for the Cambria Christmas Market at Cambria Pines Lodge.

That hearing had been on the commission’s July 14 agenda, but an earlier item took longer to review than expected, so the Christmas Market issue was postponed.

The meeting is due to start at 9 a.m. at the County Government Center, 1055 Monterey St., D170, San Luis Obispo.

According to the staff report, the market would be contained within the interior of lodge grounds and the adjacent Cambria Nursery. The market would include temporary lighting, seasonal displays and concession stands (26 booths, which would be constructed for the event and dismantled and removed at its conclusion).

If granted, the market’s five-year, temporary-event permit (and waiver of requirement for 1,000-foot setback from a residential neighborhood of single-family homes) would be for events held Wednesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for four weeks beginning the Friday after Thanksgiving, but including all of Christmas week.

Another North Coast item that had been on the commission’s Aug. 11 agenda had been removed by Tuesday, Aug. 2.
