Just one candidate has filed election papers on North Coast

As of the close of business on Tuesday, July 19, only one North Coast candidate had filed for election or re-election to a local agency board.

John Russell, appointed director on the San Simeon Community Services District, has filed his paperwork to retain his seat for a two-year term, according to the County Clerk-Recorder’s list posted at http://bit.ly/2a0ptpy.

Jerry Wood, active in the campaign to retain local control of the Cambria Fire Department, was to have gone to the Clerk-Recorder’s office Tuesday to possibly begin the process of filing for a seat on the Cambria Community Healthcare District.

Filing for the offices began Monday, July 18. Declarations of candidacy and nomination papers can be filed at the County Clerk-Recorder’s office through Aug. 12, although nonincumbents have until Aug. 17 to file if a current director or trustee doesn’t seek another term.

Prospective candidates should call 805-781-5228 to make an appointment to sign up.

County records show that area seats up for election in November include those currently being held by:

▪  Cambria Community Services District Board of Directors — Board President Gail Robinette and directors Amanda Rice (full terms) and Greg Sanders (short term).

▪  Cambria Community Healthcare District Board of Trustees — Board President Kristi Jenkins and Trustee Barbara Bronson-Gray (both full terms).

▪  Coast Unified School District Board of Trustees — Lee McFarland (short term) and Sue Nash, Cindy Fratto and Tiffany Silva (full terms).

▪  San Simeon Community Services District Board of Directors — Board President Dan Williams, Vice President Alan Fields, and directors Leroy Price (all full terms) and Russell.
