Four-week election filing period opens July 18

Monday, July 18, marks the official start of the North Coast election season, a four-week period during which candidates toss their hats into the ring by filing paperwork to run for important seats on agency boards.

Declarations of candidacy and nomination papers can be filed at the San Luis Obispo County Clerk-Recorder’s Office between July 18 and Aug. 12, although nonincumbents have until Aug. 17 to file if a current director or trustee doesn’t seek another term.

County records show that area seats up for election in November include those currently held by:

Cambria Community Services District Board of Directors — Board President Gail Robinette and directors Amanda Rice (full terms) and Greg Sanders (short term — he was appointed in October to compete the rest of Muril Clift’s term). The board’s next meeting is 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, in the Veterans Memorial Building, 1000 Main St. For details, call 927-6223.

Cambria Community Healthcare District Board of Trustees — Board President Kristi Jenkins and Trustee Barbara Bronson-Gray (both full terms). The board’s next meeting is at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, at the Old Cambria Grammar School, 1350 Main St. Details: 927-8304. www.cambria-

Coast Unified School District Board of Trustees Trustees Lee McFarland (short term, as he was seated a year ago to fill out the term of Lesli Murdoch), Sue Nash, Cindy Fratto and Tiffany Silva (full terms). School officials say Fratto has indicated she doesn’t plan to run again. Silva was appointed in August to serve the remainder of Judith Hillen’s term when the latter moved out of the district. San Simeon Community Services District Board of Directors — Board President Dan Williams, Vice President Alan Fields, and directors Leroy Price and John Russell (all full terms). Russell was appointed in March to complete Ralph McAdam’s term. The board’s next meeting is Wednesday, Aug. 10 in the Plaza del Cavalier Banquet Room, 250 San Simeon Avenue, San Simeon. No election is set for seats on the Cambria Cemetery District. The three-member board is appointed by the county supervisor.
