Highway 1 construction to delay SLO County traffic
Road projects will continue to cause traffic delays along Highway 1 near the San Luis Obispo-Monterey county line.
Drivers will experience one-way reversing traffic along the highway in northern San Luis Obispo and southern Monterey counties because of the $9.5 million Elephant Trunk project, which involves the construction of a retaining wall along the scenic highway.
Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and traffic will be controlled by a temporary signal all day and night. Five- to 10-minute delays are expected because of restricted traffic patterns. Roads may be closed overnight at some points during construction.
The retaining wall will restore an area known for major landslides. Construction is expected to wrap up during the winter.
