Fundraisers in the works for injured North Coast fixture Tim McAlpine

For years, Tim and Gina McAlpine have been at the ready when North Coasters needed help, through his Western Hauling business, her housecleaning work alongside Bambi Fields and their volunteering.

Now there are tripleheader fundraiser movements to help the couple as Tim McAlpine recovers from injuries he sustained several weeks ago when he fell from a roof.

According to fundraiser organizer Michele Novoa, McAlpine broke his pelvis in four places and had many deep bruises. Surgery wasn’t required, retired nurse Novoa said, but McAlpine’s recovery will probably take three to four months as his bones heal.

Novoa said March 15 that McAlpine was transferred to a rehabilitation facility and could be released to come home March 16.

An April 13 drive-through pasta feed fundraiser is in the works, and a $7,500 gofundme account and Rabobank account for donations have been established in the name of Tim McAlpine Benefit.

Fundraiser plans are in the formative stage, although the April 13 date is firmed up, Novoa said. The event at the Veterans Memorial Building parking lot area will be from 4 to 7 p.m.

Those who wish to dine in the American Legion Hall at the rear of the vets hall may do so, she said.

Novoa expects the menu will include pasta (with meat-sauce and vegetarian options), salad and bread.

Light dessert will be available, and the Legion post bar will be open. Presale tickets are to be $10 each, available soon, but interested parties can call Novoa at 927-3048.

As further details become available, they will be posted online at www.thecambrian.com and The Cambrian’s Facebook page.
