Tennis club invites participants
The Cambria Tennis Club is a nonprofit organization dedicated to offering its members drop-in and group play on the local Coast Union High School courts. (We have a unique reciprocal arrangement with the school district and help pay for court maintenance.)
All ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate. We would like to encourage anyone seeking a healthful and fun activity (and who may have once played tennis or related sports and desires to refresh their skills) to join us for our Saturday or Sunday drop-ins from 9 to 11 a.m.
At this time, we particularly need women to form and participate in group play (some experience preferred).
For more information, go to cambriatennisclub.org or call 927-0799 or 924-1719. (Membership is encouraged, with the cost only $35 for an individual.)
We will be having a fundraising and social event at a local venue in April, and if you wish to be informed, please contact us.

Lawn bowlers recall lost friends
Like most people who knew and were friends with Mike and Linda Adelson, we were shocked and deeply saddened by the news of our loss of these two wonderful friends.
Linda and Mike were members of the Cambria Lawn Bowls Club, which is where our members were fortunate to see them on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9 until 11:30 a.m.
Mike was a pleasure to bowl with because of his attitude of being there primarily for the friendship of the bowlers. Winning was not the only reason for Mike to be there. Linda, on the other hand, loved to win and became happier depending on how much her team was winning by. Both were excellent bowlers and club members and were kind and patient when bowling with new members.
This letter is to invite anyone who might like to honor Linda and Mike by stopping by at the lawn bowling green to have a moment of silence or say a prayer. A memorial book will be there to sign.
The bowling green will be available on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9 until 11:30 a.m. Come and be with our lost friends.
Shale Hanson,

Thank you from Contreras family
When hard times hit, Cambrians continue to show unimaginable charity. Manuel Contreras desperately needed a kidney. His wife, Natalia, gave him hers. Their recovery is going to be long and hard, and that’s when this town stepped up. The amount of time, effort, organization and, in the end, money that was given to the Contreras family will go a long way in terms of their peace of mind while they continue to heal. The Contreras family would like to thank the following people:
To the Spaghetti Dinner Organizing Committee: Steve Kniffen, Suzanne Kennedy, Lani Zaragoza and Toni Mertens. This town is truly blessed to have these amazing individuals who volunteer their time and expertise to these events.
To the restaurants that step up on a regular basis, donating their time and food: Sea Chest, Moonstone Beach Bar & Grill, Indigo Moon, Black Cat Bistro, San Simeon Bar & Grill, French Corner Bakery, Manta Rey Restaurant, Linn’s, El Chorlito and The Pit Stop.
To the Legion for always donating its facility. To Jerry Gruber and the CCSD for all of their help.
To Dianne Brooke, a.k.a. Lady Ti Die of The Cambrian: Thank you very much for perfectly articulating the hardship the Contreras family is going through. And to Stephen Provost, editor of The Cambrian, for running Dianne’s article and all the announcements including a front page spotlight. The power of the pen really showed itself.
To Celynn Lyman with Adelman Broadcasting, KTEA 103.5 and Bob FM 105.3 for producing and running multiple radio spots, free of charge, to keep reminding the public of the upcoming Spaghetti Dinner Benefit.
Your generosity spoke volumes.
To Honorary Mayor Kim Matson for her email blasts to keep this event in the forefront of the Internet-inclined public.
To all the volunteers from the community, Santa Lucia Middle School and Coast Union High School for their help in cooking and serving hundreds of dinners.
And last but not least, to the hundreds of Cambrians who came out and supported this family. As one local stated, “I don’t know this family, but this is what we Cambrians do.”
It is truly humbling and enjoyable to be a part of something where Cambria shows its true colors!
John MacKinnon, Cambria
