Folk artist Daniel Champagne to play Morro Bay concert
Daniel Champagne will take the stage for the next SLOFOLKS concert at Coalesce Bookstore in Morro Bay, performing in a 7 p.m. concert Friday, Jan. 22.
The singer, songwriter and guitarist from Australia was classically trained in his teens and, more recently, turned his talents toward cutting-edge folk music. He first picked up a guitar at age 5 and began writing songs at 12.
Champagne has played at such events as the Vancouver and Mariposa Folk Festivals in Canada, the Labadoux Festival in Belgium, and Australia’s Byron Bay Bluesfest. He has toured with artists including Judy Collins, Ani DiFranco, INXS, Lucinda Williams, KT Tunstall and John Butler.
Champagne has released two EPs: “My Own Design” in 2009 and “Wide Eyed and Open” the following year, with his first full-length LP, “Pint of Mystery,” coming in 2011.
Tickets are $20. Coalesce Bookstore is at 845 Main St. in Morro Bay. For more information, call 772-2880 or email the bookstore at coalescebookstore@gmail.com.
