Cambria parks commision vacancy draws three applicants
Three people have applied to fill a vacancy on the Parks Recreation and Open Space (PROS) Commission that opened up when previous commissioner Ben Bouldin resigned.
Current commissioners are Steve Kniffen (chairman), Adolph Atencio, Joyce Renshaw and Tim Roche.
At the advisory board’s Jan. 5 meeting (10 a.m., Veterans Memorial Building, 1000 Main St.), commissioners are to discuss how to move forward with the appointments and schedule the interviews with applicants Stanley Cooper, Teri Lord and Kermit Johansson, according to Jerry Gruber, general manager of the Cambria Community Services District.
February target
Based on that timeline, Gruber anticipates that at the Feb. 25 PROS meeting, commissioners could make a selection and recommendation to the CCSD board. Then the services-district directors could consider and likely act on that advice during their Feb. 25 meeting, Gruber said in a Dec. 28 email interview.
The deadline to apply to fill the vacancy was Dec. 20.
Commissioners participate in PROS on a volunteer basis, advising the CCSD board on policy matters about recreation, open space and parks, such as Fiscalini Ranch Preserve and the plans for a community park on a portion of the ranch that lies east of Highway 1.
Plans for the community park’s grading and drainage systems are available for public review at the CCSD office, 1316 Tamsen Drive, Suite 201, and at the Cambria Library, 1043 Main St.
