Art & wine for all tastes at annual Cambria festival
For many vacationers and residents, a Central Coast adventure includes scenery, plus art, wine, shopping and good food, just as it will for Cambria’s Art & Wine Festival in several locations throughout the community this Friday through Sunday, Jan. 25 to 27.
Sponsored by the Cambria Chamber of Commerce, the 11th annual event brings together the work of 64 area artists, 58 participating businesses, 35 wineries, 21 sponsors and dozens of volunteers, especially from such organizations as Allied Arts Association, Cambria Historical Society, the chamber and other nonprofit groups.
According to event chairwoman Nancy McKarney, the event benefits the chamber and Allied Arts, which operates the Cambria Center for the Arts. Last year’s festival sold out prior to the starting date.
On Tuesday, Jan. 22, $25 tickets still were available for the “Main Event,” including wine tasting, food sampling and more at the Veterans Memorial Building and Joslyn Center in West Village and the Cambria Historical Museum at Burton Drive and Center Street in East Village. Presold tickets can be exchanged for the event wine glass and Souvenir Passport.
Designated Driver tickets, for those not partaking of the wine, are $15.
Tuesday, a very few “Party Package” tickets were still available for $80. They include access to the Main Event and unreserved seats at the “Kick Off Party” Friday night. Call the chamber at 927-3624 for details.
Steve Kellogg, Allied Arts president, is the festival’s featured artist; he created the image being used to promote the 2013 event. Posters of the artwork are available for $15 each (the chamber has previous posters for sale for $25 each, plus shipping.)
Festival happenings
Throughout the area from San Simeon to Harmony on Saturday, there’ll be art demonstrations, wine tastings, special sales and other promotions. Visiting participating locations earns ticket holders “stamps” in the Souvenir Passports and the chance to win raffle prizes. An art show and silent auction also is scheduled.
Satellite events on Saturday, Jan. 26, include Festa Italiana at Harmony Cellars; an art and wine dinner presented by Linn’s restaurant and Hearst Winery; a wine and cheese pairing at Fermentations; and a “Make Your Own Label Party” at Moonstone Cellars.
The festival’s “Artist’s Faire,” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27 at the Veterans Memorial Building, includes tastings from seven wineries, demonstrations by 19 artists and booths for two wine-related vendors. Admission to that event is included with Main Event tickets, or is available separately for $10. A barbecue lunch is to be available for purchase
Winning raffle tickets will be drawn at the end of the fair
If still available, tickets can be purchased at the Chamber office, 767 Main St., or at the door. For details, call 927-3624 or go to cambriaartwine.org.
