A favorite Airbnb retreat — Little Black Cabin at Lake Tahoe — hits market for $889,000
On the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, a popular and cozy Airbnb favorite has hit the market for $889,000.
Known as Cubby — The Little Black Cabin by the Lake, the Carnelian Bay home has two bedrooms, one full bathroom and an expansive 1,000 square feet of deck space.
The minimalistic residence was featured in Vogue magazine.
“Perched on the shores of Lake Tahoe is this little black cabin,” Vogue magazine wrote in a 2021 travel article. “Originally built in the 1940s, it’s been thoughtfully renovated in a muted color scheme. Tell us you don’t want to just curl up in its artfully adorned living room right now.”
As an Airbnb, the cabin went for a nightly rate of $372 and earned a lofty 4.95 guest rating, as well garnering praise in other publications such as SFGate and Bon Traveler.
Sellers Ian and Heather Gover understand what people enjoy about their lodging.
“This getaway has been an incredible retreat for us,” they wrote in an email to the Sacramento Bee. “We loved going for morning dips in the lake, walking our dogs on the nearby trails, hosting friends and family on our deck and at the large dining table. Cozy winter holidays were definitely a highlight — heck, we even harvested our Christmas trees from the land behind the cabin. Our favorite time of year was always fall. The sparkling water off the lake and crisp air was rejuvenating after busy summers.”
The homeowners created clean lines and bright textures inside the home. The Scandinavian-inspired cabin has a simple open-concept floor plan with the main level seamlessly blending the living room, dining area, chef’s kitchen, bathroom and laundry area. There are abundant windows, skylights and Dutch doors to let in sunlight and give glimpses of the lake and mountains. A hickory staircase leads to the primary bedroom and the guest loft or reading nook. A beautiful wood stove keeps things cozy.
The dark exterior allows the home to blend into the woods. The large deck also has partial lake views. There’s an outdoor fire pit, too.
