North Coast volunteers to place wreaths on veterans’ graves this holiday season. Here’s when

While various traditional North Coast holiday activities won’t happen this December, there are some ceremonies and activities that are still on the calendar.

One traditional event is the annual honoring of veterans at the Cambria Cemetery, although it will be modified somewhat from previous years.

At about 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, two groups will recognize veterans at the cemetery — as has happened in years past — but this time, they’ll be doing so in separate efforts.

The Daughters of the American Revolution will lay about 40 wreaths on veteran graves as part of the nationwide Wreaths Across America commemoration.

Concurrently, American Legion Post No. 432 will put a holiday remembrance placard on the graves of each veteran buried there.

Wreaths will also be placed on each set of service flags at the Main Street (Santa Rosa Chapel) and Bridge Street cemeteries.
