Burglar steals $10,000 worth of jewelry from kitchen of Cambria home, SLO sheriff says

Detectives are continuing to investigate a brazen daytime burglary on Dec. 2 in the 6000 block of Charing Lane in Cambria, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to video of the crime that the homeowners shared with investigators, a man shattered the window in the mostly glass kitchen door of the spacious home and stepped through glass shards in the door frame, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The burglar went directly to the kitchen island and took two trays of items off the counter there, then quickly left the way he’d come in, the Sheriff’s Office said.

An audible alarm had sounded at about 8:50 a.m., and deputies were dispatched to investigate, the agency said.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the homeowners weren’t there when the burglary happened, but told investigators later that the suspect had taken about $10,000 in jewelry.
