When you’ve gone to the Cambria post office or the Cookie Crock Market during this holiday season, is something missing?

Right — there are no red kettles, or volunteers ringing bells to remind you of the need for donations to fund local services from the Salvation Army.

In recent years, the fundraising effort hasn’t had a North Coast coordinator, according to Beth Quaintance, Salvation Army’s field rep in this county. She said in a Nov. 28 phone interview that, without a North Coast leader, she’s been interviewing North Coast clients in her office in Paso Robles.

However, even with the lack of local kettles and bell-ringers, generous people still can donate specifically to help needy people in Cambria, San Simeon, Harmony and environs.

Quaintance advised that, if that’s where you want the money to go, be sure to note in the check’s memo line that the money is to go to the North Coast area. Then send it to her at the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 2654, Paso Robles CA 93447.
