Good News for Tommy Moore, local nursing students and charities

Rotary San Luis Obispo de Tolosa has granted $17,875 to 10 local charities that provide programs for local youth.

The recipients are: French Hospital Medical Center Foundation; SLO Museum of Art; YMCA; Literacy for Life; SLO Children’s Museum; Community Action Partnership of SLO County; Food Bank Coalition of SLO County; Cal Poly Arts; Jack’s Helping Hand; and Surfing for Hope.

The French Hospital Medical Center Volunteer Guild recently awarded seven nursing scholarships, totaling $5,250 to local students who are seeking careers in the medical field.

The scholarship money was funded by the Beth Peterson Memorial Scholarship program. Many of the scholarship recipients either were, or currently are volunteers at the hospital.

The recipients are: Alison Scott, Haley Hudson, Casey Lary, Elissa Parrish, Adrielle Van Amsterdam, Maureen Bonin and Colleen McCann.

Each student was awarded $750 for classroom books and supplies.
