Good News for SkillsUSA winners, mothers and agricultural students

Arroyo Grande

Recent Arroyo Grande High School graduates Ryan Hoover and Trace Williams placed ninth in the nation for 3-D Animation at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference competition in Louisville, Kentucky after finishing first in the California state competition.

The students were coached by Arroyo Grande High School teacher, Randy Fiser.

SLO County

The Center for Family Strengthening has received an $8,000 grant from the Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County on behalf of the Central Coast Breastfeeding Coalition.

The grant will be used to improve the breastfeeding rates of mothers with premature infants by providing lactation experts to educate and promote successful breastfeeding after a mother leaves the hospital.

The California Women for Agriculture San Luis Obispo County chapter recently gave 25 local students more than $10,000 in scholarships to assist with college fees or their 4-H and FFA animal projects in preparation for the Mid-State Fair.

Recipients of CWA’s 4-H and FFA Project Scholarship Program are:

Mikaela Jensen, Hope Fardanesh, Sydney Pruit, Blake Fardanesh, Delaney Dusi, Briana Castorena, Luis Castorena, Sarafina Treder, Sage Anne Plaskett, Sarah Kier, Rori Degeer, Rylie Degeer, Cristal Muniz, Kendall Ruggles, Chole Stilits, Katlyn Ogle, Bella Marden, Lindsey English, Lauryn English, Sydney McGovern and Chelsea Stilits.

Recipients of CWA’s Collegiate Scholarship Program are:

Alina Dzukola, Conner Vernon, Caitlin Hopkins and Michael Dye.
