Good News for Donna Donovan, the Food Bank and Big Brothers Big Sisters

San Luis Obispo

San Luis Obispo Elks Lodge No. 322 veterans service Chairwoman Donna Donovan has been awarded the DDGER (District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler) Outstanding Volunteer Award for 2015-16.

The award was given for her passionate, extensive ongoing activities supporting local veterans’ needs.

She has previously won veteran volunteer awards at the state and national levels.

California Valley

BHE Renewables, owner/operator of the Topaz Solar Farm photovoltaic plant in California Valley, recently donated $5,000 to the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County’s Capital Campaign.

The donation will go towards the construction of the Food Bank’s new centralized facility in San Luis Obispo, which will significantly reduce overhead expenses and make the process of distributing food more efficient.

SLO County

Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Luis Obispo County has been awarded Gold Standard recognition by Big Brothers Big Sisters of America for program quality, excellence, growth and financial stability.

The honor was given to the 16 top performing agencies throughout the country, putting the local agency in the top 5 percent of agencies in the nation, according to a news release from the agency.
