Good News about American Association of University Women and Heath West

South County

The Five Cities-Pismo Beach Branch of the American Association of University Women recently presented four $1,000 scholarships to four high school seniors.

The recipients are:

Zalak Patel, a student at Arroyo Grande High School, will attend either USC or UC Berkeley in the fall, studying international relations.

Victoria Garcia, a student at Nipomo High School, will attend Cal Poly in the fall, studying agricultural education and specializing in agricultural biology.

Lexie Neumann is the first New Tech High School senior to receive the AAUW Scholarship. She will attend Azusa Pacific University in the fall, studying business administration.

Fatima Heredia Alcantar, a student at Nipomo High School, was selected as the Winona Green AVID Scholar, and will be the first in her family to attend college. She will attend Fresno State and study biology.

Atascadero

The city of Atascadero recently announced that the California Parks and Recreation Society’s District 8 has selected Heath West as Champion of the Community for 2015.

West has been coaching for many years, and was honored for his hours of volunteering for Atascadero youth sports programs, including football, basketball, baseball and soccer.

West is actively involved with the annual Atascadero Police Department vs. Special Olympics basketball game and also volunteers as an official.
