Los Osos

The Rotary Club of Los Osos has granted $470 in funding to third-graders at Monarch Grove Elementary School to create a monarch butterfly sanctuary at the school.

Some of the students presented their plan at a recent Rotary Club meeting.

After the students researched the life cycle, migration and declining food sources of the butterflies, they planted a garden with plants specifically grown for food for the monarchs.

The habitat they created is now home to multiple monarch caterpillars.

Paso Robles

The Kiwanis Club of Paso Robles recently presented two donations in support of under-served individuals recovering from substance abuse and youth soccer.

A $1,000 donation went to the Lifestyles Recovery Center, which provides group and individual counseling to those who are dealing with drug and alcohol addiction.

The club also presented a donation of $1,500 to volunteer coach Salvador Echeverria in support of the Paso Robles Youth Soccer program.
