Local author Destry Ramey has received Honorable Mention for her children’s book, “The Brown Paper Bag,” at the 2016 Los Angeles Book Festival.

The fourth book in her “Adventures of Hunter and Ramona Pug” series is based on the true story of Feather, an abandoned puppy thrown out a car window in a paper bag.

San Luis Obispo

The SLO Downtown Association recently awarded to businesses that made physical or aesthetic improvements to keep downtown beautiful.

Nearly two dozen businesses were honored at the association’s 27th annual Beautification Awards Social.

Top honors, including the Mayor’s Award and Chairperson’s Award, went to The Townhomes at Old Church Place and the Bill Roalman Bike Boulevard expansion respectively.
