Good news about the Nature Corps and Assistance League of SLO County
Morro Bay
Local volunteers recently participated in an event organized by the Nature Corps as part of a special program to restore the nesting habitat of threatened snowy plovers. The outing took place at Morro Strand State Beach, where they were joined by nonprofit executives from South Korea.
The Asan Nanum Foundation, based in Seoul, South Korea, sponsored the group to travel to California and meet with Nature Corps and other nonprofit organizations to learn about volunteer management.
The volunteers planted nearly 1,500 native plants and grasses to facilitate the restoration of coastal dunes habitat that was previously dominated by non-native grass.
