Good news about Austin Hope and the SLO Youth Symphony
Paso Robles
Austin Hope, president and winemaker of Hope Family Wines in Paso Robles, was honored with the Founder’s Award at the 2016 Feed the Peace Awards dinner for his support for The Nobelity Project’s Turning Wine into Water program.
The award is presented to an individual who has made a significant impact in supporting efforts to provide clean water and electricity to over 1,300 Kenyan school children and their communities.
Hope created a wine called “The Turk,” named after Nobelity Project founder Turk Pipkin, with all proceeds donated to the Kenya Schools Fund.
San Luis Obispo
The San Luis Obispo Youth Symphony, in its 52nd year in the community, has announced that it has hired violinist Mi Young Shin as its new musical education director.
In her short time with the Youth Symphony, Shin has strengthened programs by adding new schools to Strings in the Schools (SIS) and by providing support to the symphony conductors and SIS teachers through clinics and training opportunities.
She joins continuing SLO Youth Symphony manager Brett Malta in providing orchestral and ensemble education and performance opportunities to local youth.
