Mexican restaurant Old Juan’s Cantina recently earned $2,000 for the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County.

The funds were raised through its annual fundraiser by donating $1 for every item ordered off the specials menu during the month of December.

The amount is increased through Food Bank efficiencies, which turn $1 into $10 worth of food.

“A lot of us take food for granted, but the Food Bank spends every day working with people who are hungry or unsure about where their next meal will come from. It was a pleasure for us to join their mission,” said Eva Verdin, owner of the restaurant.
