More than 40 community members volunteered to help plant a new learning garden at the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden.

Next to the existing children’s garden, the new Children’s Sage Meadow now has more than 200 drought-tolerant plants installed.

Sage Ecological Landscapes donated the design for the garden in 2013. The company also donated time and labor to install the walkways and irrigation system.

A grant from IBM will be used to create English/Spanish interpretive signs describing historical uses of California native plants.

On #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back, Engle Insurance donated $500 to the Family Care Network to help provide a home to a homeless family.

In addition, the local agency encouraged its office employees to participate in Family Care Network’s Sponsor a Child campaign. Employees selected wishes from children in need and together donated toys, clothes and necessities, making 17 wishes come true.
