Good news about Timothy and Titus Shanks and Soroptimist International of SLO

The San Luis Obispo Youth Symphony has announced the winners of its annual Concerto Competition that was held at Community Baptist Church in San Luis Obispo.
Adjudicators Paul Severtson, Miriam Grisso and David George unanimously decided that this year’s winners are brothers Timothy Shanks, violin, and Titus Shanks, cello, performing Brahms’ Double Concerto in A minor, Opus 102.
Elijah Shanks, cello; Megan Pollon, violin; Jenna Skiff, flute; Liam Wilson, cello; and Claire Sze, violin, also took part in the competition and were accompanied by pianist, Paul Woodring.
The competition is overseen each year by the Youth Symphony’s Concert Orchestra conductor, Nancy Nagano.

With the mission of helping women and girls globally, Soroptimist International of San Luis Obispo recently held a white elephant sale, which earned funds of more than $300 for vulnerable female victims of the devastating earthquake in Nepal in April.
