The Association of Fundraising Professionals’ San Luis Obispo County chapter celebrated its first National Philanthropy Day with a luncheon honoring two local philanthropists.

Clifford Clark of Grover Beach was chosen as Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year for his devotion to arts and education. He has supported many South County organizations including the Clark Center for the Performing Arts, Ramona Garden Park Community Center, Grover Beach Community Library, South County Educational and Cultural Center and the Exploration Station.

Leah Maier was chosen as Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy Award for her efforts in creating the SLO Blast Color Fun Run, which raises funds for the Alex Maier Memorial Fund and Scholarship in honor of her brother, Alex Maier, a San Luis Obispo High School soccer player who died in 2013.
