Good news for Mikayla Lowe, Lucy Schermesser
Cuesta College
The Christopher Meadows Memorial EMS Education Fund has selected Mikayla Lowe and Lucy Schermesser as the latest recipients of an emergency medical technician scholarship awarded by the fund. Both awardees are currently enrolled in the EMT course at Cuesta College.
Lowe is a graduate of Atascadero High School and is interested in pursuing a career as an emergency room nurse.
Schermesser attends Cal Poly in addition to her EMT course at Cuesta. She plans to graduate in 2017 with a degree in forestry and natural resources.
The scholarship was established to honor Christopher Meadows — a search-and-rescue volunteer with the Sheriff's Department who died in 2009 while responding to an accident at the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area. It was established by Taylor and Heather Tucker, Meadows’ co-workers at San Luis Ambulance.
