Meals That Connect, formerly the Senior Nutrition Program of San Luis Obispo County, is delivering food not only to seniors, but their pets as well, thanks to a donation from Lemos Feed and Pet Supply.

Mike Lemos donated two pallets of high-quality dog food, worth about $12,000, to the program.

The bags of dog food are being distributed during this Christmas season to homebound seniors.

Juvenile Court Judge Linda Hurst recently swore in seven new Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteers. The advocates will be assigned to an abused, neglected or abandoned child or sibling group or a young adult who has recently left foster care and has requested a mentor. Each volunteer completed a thorough screening and background check.

CASA provided the new volunteers with 30 hours of initial training. For more information, visit www.slocasa.org.
