SLO County Food Bank raised $12,000 and collected 1,247 turkeys for Thanksgiving

San Luis Obispo County

This Thanksgiving season, the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County helped many families in need. With the support of the community, $12,050 was raised, and 1,247 turkeys were collected for families this holiday season.

The Food Bank would like to spotlight the following donors for their generous support at the Turkey Drive: Greg King from California Fresh Markets, Sunrun, Smart 72, BHE Renewables, Assemblyman Jordan Cunningham, French Hospital, IQMS, ASAP Movers, American Legion Post 50, Atascadero Vons, KCOY Team and Dimes Media.

Cal Poly

Two Cal Poly construction management students recently took second place at the fifth annual Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Region 8 International Student Competition. Kelly Williams of Los Gatos and Carlye Cunningham of Laguna Hills were challenged to assume the role of contractor in the refurbishment of a 114-year-old building in Liverpool, England.

Teams from 11 universities representing four countries gathered at Liverpool John Moores University to create solutions to the competition prompt. Williams and Cunningham competed in a joint team, partnering with two students from the Czech Technical University in Prague.
