Saint Barnabas Thrift Shop makes a donation each month to a local nonprofit organization. For October, the thrift shop donated $1,000 to the Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County.

The Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church thrift shop, which is staffed by volunteers, is at 114 Brisco Road in Arroyo Grande.

Paso Robles

Jack House docents recently toured the Pioneer Museum in Paso Robles, with board member Paulette Pahler leading the tour highlighting the artifacts connected with Howard Vail Jack, the youngest son of Robert and Nellie Hollister Jack of San Luis Obispo.

Howard was the last family member to own the Jack House, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. When Howard died in 1974, the property was passed on to descendants who deeded the home to the City of San Luis Obispo.

Howard was known for preserving vaquero traditions, and his artifacts are on display at the Pioneer Museum.
