Paso teens named delegates to California Girls and Boys State

Paso Robles

Paso Robles Unit 50 American Legion Auxiliary and Paso Robles Post 50 American Legion have announced the 2017 delegates and alternates to California Girls State and California Boys State.

The Girls and Boys State American Legion programs are weeklong sessions where delegates learn about government. Delegates are chosen based on leadership qualities, high academic honors and community activities.

Chosen were: Girls State delegate Lily Seebart, and alternates Madison Harris and Cassidy LeClair; and Boys State delegates Will Stroud and Dante Coletta, and alternates, Joe Cantrell and Gavin Hughes. All are Paso Robles High School juniors.

The session for Boys State was at Sacramento State from June 17 to 24. The session for the Girls State is at Claremont McKenna College from June 26 to July 1.

Girl Scout Troop 896 donated 70 gifts to the Twin Cities Community Hospital emergency department to help make children in the emergency room more at ease. Eleven girls in Troop 896 collected art and other drawing supplies and packaged them for child patients to use.
