Good News about RideWell, Hospice of SLO County and Morro Bay Quotarians

Morro Bay

Quota International of Morro Bay recently awarded $1,075 to the College for Kids program at Cuesta College.

The donation is in memory of the late Quotarian Connie Wambolt, who was director of community education at Cuesta College.

The money will be used to provide scholarships for children in grades five through nine to go to the College for Kids summer enrichment program.

Quota is an international organization with a special emphasis on education.

SLO County

Bike SLO County has launched RideWell, a program that provides bikes, helmets, lights and bike education at no cost to local residents in need.

Since August, the RideWell program has provided 17 people with bicycles for transportation to work and school. The gently used bikes are refurbished by the organization. The program is funded in part by a Community-Based Organization grant from San Luis Obispo County and donors who support Bike SLO County’s efforts.

Hospice of San Luis Obispo County was selected as a beneficiary of Mother’s Tavern’s Table 48, a table specifically designated for raising money for local charities on a monthly basis.

Proceeds from meals served at Table 48 led to a donation of $2,304 for Hospice SLO County’s Pet Peace of Mind Program.

For patients facing a life-limiting illness, the program ensures the patient’s pets will be by their side to provide comfort and that safe and loving homes will be found for their pets once the owners have passed away.
