Good News for Michael Stevens, Bruce Finch and the Paso Robles Children’s Museum
Arroyo Grande
Michael Stevens, chef and owner of Tanner Jacks restaurant in Arroyo Grande, recently competed at the California State Barbecue Championship and Festival held by the Kansas City Barbecue Society.
Stevens entered the rib category as a first-time contestant with his restaurant chef Adolfo Quesada. The recipe included smoked baby back pork ribs in a traditional barbecue sauce with a lilikoi — also known as passion fruit — glaze.
They placed third in the state and took home the bronze in the rib category.
Paso Robles
The 7th annual Cioppino & Vino fundraiser for the Paso Robles Children’s Museum raised $32,000 to support the museum’s programs and daily operating expenses.
The event featured a cook-off with some of San Luis Obispo County’s top chefs competing for the best cioppino.
Gary Eberle of Eberle Winery, Monica Soto-Raethke of Cambria Pub & Steakhouse and Lisa Pretty, local cookbook author and owner of P.S. Cellars, judged the competition.
Guests also voted for their favorite cioppino.
Bruce Finch, chef and owner of local catering business A Party For Your Palate, took top honors in both the Judges’ and People’s Choice Awards.
