Good News about Laurie Morgan, Jennifer Shepard, Deborah Dueck and Kendra Williams

The Community Counseling Center recently hosted its annual Lyceum Mental Health Awards and Education Luncheon at Ventana Grill in Pismo Beach.
The event featured: keynote speaker Kendra Williams, a licensed marriage and family therapist and Cal Poly lecturer; the announcement of the recipient of the Arlene Chandler Award; and a scholarship given to an outstanding student trainee and intern therapist at the counseling center.
The Arlene Chandler Award, given to an individual demonstrating outstanding dedication and exceptional leadership in mental health, was given to Laurie Morgan, SAFE coordinator with San Luis Obispo County Behavioral Health. Morgan is retiring after 30 years of service improving the lives of low-income children, youth and families in San Luis Obispo County.
The award is named for Arlene Chandler, a faculty member at Cuesta College who helped found and incorporate the CCC as a nonprofit in 1968.
Scholarship recipients are Jennifer Shepard, Axelroth Student Scholarship; and Deborah Dueck, Board of Directors Intern Scholarship. Both received $250.
