SLO County

The League of Women Voters of San Luis Obispo County recently announced the installation of new officers and directors for the 2016-17 program year.

The new officers are: Marguerite Bader, president; Sharon Kimball, 1st vice president/civil discourse; Vera Wallen, 2nd vice president/voter service; Vallerie Steenson, secretary; and Mary Beth Armstrong, treasurer.

The new members of the board of directors are: Janice Carr, Patricia Dale, Mardi Geredes, Elton (Bud) Hankins, Debora Humphreys, Carrie Pardo, Julie Rodewald and Nancy Welts.

The local league, founded in 1962, has more than 100 members representing all of SLO County, according to an email from the league. Its mission is to inform, educate and encourage active citizen participation in government.

San Luis Obispo

The city of San Luis Obispo has awarded the Senior Nutrition Program of SLO County a grant of $10,000.

The funds will go toward providing nutritious meals, free of charge, to seniors in the county.
